The reason I used the Garmin was because I didn’t really want to flip back and forth between screens on my car’s console between the indwelljng GPS and the entertainment system (long drive-needed the screen for the radio/mp3 player on all times to pick and choose tunes). I ordered the dual socket cigarette lighter converter so I could run the R7 and an old Garmin GPS unit I found. I didn’t update it, just used it as delivered. When I got the R7 I was a little surprised. So I ordered the R7 along with a dual socket cigarette lighter converter from Amazon. I needed some protection right away, well at least in a week.
